Welcome to Ko'a Kea Farms
Ko'a Kea Farms is a family-run farm in Waianae, Oahu, situated between the nearby mountains about a mile from the ocean. Where land and sea are closely connected, providing sustenance and thriving ecosystems.
An ideal day at Ko'a Kea Farms includes: taking care of the trees, plants and animals; learning everyday about agriculture and sustainable practices; teaching and sharing with others.

Our Farm's Story
Named after the white coral found throughout the property, Ko'a Kea symbolizes the vital connection between the ocean and land, nurturing life and community on our farm.
Propagation and reforestation of native milo and kou trees on the farm began two decades ago. The vision is to bring back the native trees on the leeward coast that were here two hundred years ago.
Taking advantage of the plentiful sunshine, we’ve had a solar farm on the land for over a decade, supplementing a source of green power to the grid in the area.
The more recent projects expand our support of sustainable agriculture on the land with addition of short hair sheep and honey bees.
Many decades ago there was a dairy farm on the property.

Our farm's location
Waianae is known for very dry weather, hot sun, rocky terrain and constant tradewinds – and there can be substantially different weather from one area to another depending on the proximity to mountains and valleys.
Our island came up from the ocean over many centuries, with constant volcanic activity. On our farm, just under the soil (and often protruding from the soil) is old coral reefs which can sometimes make farming a challenge. There is little rainfall or ground water available in the area due to the hot and dry climate and proximity to the ocean. Yet, we live in a beautiful place and given the right experience and practices - the ʻāina can provide healthy food.

Leeward Coast Oahu
Known for beautiful beaches, rugged mountains and rich cultural heritage. The Leeward Coast can be more relaxed compared with town (Honolulu) - and is home to Makaha Beach, Ko Olina lagoons, Pokai Bay, Ka'ena Point and Mount Ka'ala the highest point on the island of Oahu... just to name a few.
